Cristiano Ronaldo vows to play on for Portugal and targets 1,000 career goals

Cristiano Ronaldo revealed that he contemplated stepping away from international football following the World Cup, but affirmed his intention to keep representing Portugal and aim for 1,000 career goals across club and national team appearances. The forward, needing 21 more goals to reach that landmark, acknowledged that some detractors are attempting to "destroy" him, yet he remains resolute in continuing his journey.

Having earned 233 caps for his nation, Ronaldo served as Portugal's captain during the summer World Cup, where they were eliminated by Spain in the round of 16. When queried about whether he had considered retiring from international play, he responded: "Yes, I did. Naturally, I'm constantly evaluating my choices, my future, and also the present. I'm a reflective person; one must think. That's why you see me here now—it signifies that I will carry on."
